I love art club!
Margo Hernandez age 6
I love art club because you've taught me how to use watercolour paints, oil pastels chalk pastels and how to create collages and be more detailed with my art. I love art club because I get to create every week. You are an amazing teacher and Artist. My favourite Art classes are when we made magical unicorns, cats in hats and little bear. Thank you Teacher Emily for art club and allowing me to join.
I like Art Club because I have freedom to use my imagination

"I don't feel like my art has to be perfect"

Teacher Emily is incredibly patient and kind with the children, making them feel safe and loved. Even my daughter who can be quite shy absolutely adored art class and still asks me every Tuesday if she has art club. Emily allowed the children freedom to express their own ideas and create from the heart. Her encouragement and kindness even when their ideas were unexpected or off-topic means a lot. I loved that there was time for the kids to share and give positive feedback to their friends. We'll definitely be signing up for next session!!!
All the kids were so engaged and it was very clear to me that Emily is a master teacher!

"My 5 and 7 year olds were fortunate enough to be part of the Gather Make Art community this summer! All the kids were so engaged and it was very clear to me that Emily is a master teacher! Her passion for art and art education (not something that you always find together) provides a strong foundation for her program. Emily went far beyond typical craft/copy and paste art clubs and taught art with emotion and substance. I'm excited to have my kids participate in the future!"
The live art classes are well paced, and Emily is the kindest, most encouraging teacher.

“My daughter is always drawing and painting on her own, but Emily’s lessons introduced her to new techniques and helped expand her skills and knowledge. She was always so proud of her artwork! The live art classes are well paced, and Emily is the kindest, most encouraging teacher. The pre-recorded visual journal workshops are a delight!”

The Gather Make Art Club was a really great experience for my 9 year old. She was able to explore new art techniques and mediums, while experiencing a more self sufficient class environment. She learned how to conduct herself in an online group class setting and how to navigate basic Zoom settings. She’s a bit of a perfectionist and is easily frustrated by her own perception of her work, but Emily’s easy going approach to making “mistakes” and turning them into unique elements of the art itself was a great concept for her to practice. Thanks Gather Make Art!

I found Emily's classes over the first covid year as I was homeschooling my three children. I would've never thought of an online class for a three year old before the pandemic, but my daughter was inspired by Emily and through the video recordings felt very connected to her and would hold up her drawings as she went to share with her. I also joined in some of the classes and always felt calm and loved by her nurturing way and the care put into the lessons. The older children and even my mom joined in as they saw us creating. Emily Is a gifted teacher with a true vision of all people creating and letting go of fear through art.

I loved how easy it was to follow along the art lessons. The projects were fun and inspiring.
I highly recommend Emily's classes . What a wonderful way to spend some hours that are stuck indoors.

Emily not only shows your child how to approach drawing but also provides background inspiration to help children form concept and create a story through their art.
The girls were enchanted by Miss Emily. They got to work quickly. What I practically love about the class is that it's divided into sections, so we were able to work on one concept, sketches and drawing one day and then we moved to our basement art area for painting the next day. My kids are 6 and 3. A younger child can absolutely create art with a little more hand-holding. I highly recommend Emily's classes . What a wonderful way to spend some hours that are stuck indoors. What a lovely experience we had, gathering together to make art.

In 2009 I met Miss Emily Scale in Jinja Uganda. She came from Canada, a talented calm and professional, she taught us ( the children) how to be creative with our minds through Art. We spent about two hours each day before getting into Rugby training and I used to enjoy her classes! We used watercolors, pencil crayons for drawing pictures ( local area/street and nature etc ) We designed Art books using banana fibre and through her art, well Miss Emily made us realize this : Art is not about the drawing but about a feeling! And she was able to tap into those emotions and made us freely express ourselves through Art.
